"\" Character in String

Id like to create a formula that mirrors 'Concatenate' from Excel, so Id like 3 items concatenated; 2 sources from 2 columns on my sheet and the third is a manually written in text string with the formula itself:
Column A
Tet String abc\123 [as an example]
Column B
I can use "+" or JOIN it seems, but the fact my text string part of the formula has a "\" seems to throw the formula creation and doesnt allow it? Or if it does, the "\" is auto removed.
Any ideas why? Work around?

It should work, and it did when I tried, but I'm uncertain that I've replicated your exact scenario.

The full query:

joined with
SSM2 [where SSM is my column name and 2 is the row number]
joined with
?Version= [text string]
joined with
=Version2 [where Version is my column name and 2 is the row number]
This then auto creates a link string for ProjectWise application as the hyperlinking to ProjectWise doesnt work in SmartSheet -
=Join("pw:\\PROJECTWISEV8I:PWISEV8i\Documents\Central\Midland Mainline Route Modernisation\Network Rail\Engineering\Technical\CAD\Models\",SSM2, "=","Version2")

You could also replace the 2 with @row to make the formula row independent. *Assuming this formula will go on the same row as the other columns you are referencing.

Had to resort to putting the ProjectWise string into a column, and then reference the column, rather than have the ProjectWise string in the formula itself

Ah, I see. Join is looking for a range... not a number of items. My bad. Glad you got it worked out.
