Sheet to generate dropdown list

I need to have the same dropdown list, with identical values, in several sheets. I also need to update this list regulary.

Would be a great feature if I could populate this list by picking a column from another sheet, instead of manually updating the list in every sheet that contains it. That way that other sheet would serve as my "master" and I only need to maintain the list one place.

This would be usefull. There looks to be  plenty people looking for this but i cant see it in the roadmap. Im not sure if smartsheet has an offcial feature request page or not.

It looks like the feature requests are managed internally within the smartsheet team.

I am working on a solution and this master database sheet would be good too.

So that you could populate a list in a sheet and it udpate multiple drop down lists.

Richard Rymill at Smarter Business Processes has a solution for this using Azuqua.

Contact him ([email protected]) for a free 1 hour consultation and demo.

Thanks Stian, this has been requested in the past and I will submit your vote for it.

It is something we are looking into adding the the app in the future but it is not on our roadmap and I do not have a timeframe for it but Craig is correct, Azuqua is able to do this.

    Oh, my favorite topic...

Thanks, Travis, I'm even glad to hear that it's on the road to the roadmap Laughing

Meanwhile I'll check Azuqua (and maybe Richard's solution).

This is faaaanntastic and I'll also add my +1, Travis. A co-worker was wondering about this the other day--having one area to modify a particular setting across all sheets that include it--so I'll be happy to tell her it's on the "road to the roadmap" :)

Adding my plus one for being able to create drop-down lists across multiple sheets from a master sheet. Thanks!

  • +1 Same here.

Most common request from my user group beyond the vlookup (which we now have)

    Hi all,

    This might help!

Here is a workaround that gives you the possibility to use lists of information and choose from that list inside a sheet (doesn't work with mobile, only desktop)

I'm utilizing cell-linking for this workaround. The main sheet is linked to the dropdown/list sheet.

Please see the attached link/screenshot for more information.

    Example of dropdown/list

I hope this can be helpful for you!

www.ddupdate.com (Drop Down Update for Smartsheet) does it.

  • Any updates on this request? I see it has been a while.

Hi Jeremiah - I'm trying to use the ddupdate function and I've logged in successfully, and I'm getting the sheets in the list.  Once I select the sheet, the only column that doesn't appear is the primary column (Project Name).  Is there any reason it's omitted?  How can I use it?
