I would love this feature added. I do not know how to 'vote' on an item submitted -I only see the request form to add a new idea.
If anyone from Smartsheet can help - please add my vote!
Hi,
You also vote by sending in the enhancement request form.

Hope that helps!
Have a fantastic day!
Filled in an enhancement request, though this thread is another example of the feeling of not knowing what and when things will be implemented.
Thread started in April 2017 and July 2019 its still unclear how the roadmap looks for this.
Seems abit strange that a column with set properties in the sheet has different properties when used in a form within the same sheet?
I once again suggest that you make it possible to list the current enhancement requests done and let us users upvote them. Give us 5 upvotes / month so we dont get all giddy and upvote everything...
Hi Mattias,
This might help!
Excellent news! Formulas in contact columns are coming very soon.
Coming Soon: A New Way to Assign Work
Formulas like =VLOOKUP enable your sheets to automatically return key data based on its association with a unique identifier. Today, formula output cannot be in a contact column, but we plan on supporting this very soon.
What does this mean for you? Teams that field requests in IT, marketing, and other departments will be able to automatically assign incoming requests to the correct person. This will help eliminate the manual process of assigning new work, and get the right people working on the right things more quickly.
For example, if you are a West Coast regional manager for a consulting firm, you can create a sheet for tracking customers. Using a Smartsheet form, prospective customers can fill out their name and address to request a bid.
With the forthcoming capability, you’ll be able to quickly set up a formula in the contact column then, dependent on the submission, look up the state and which regional manager is responsible. The correct person is assigned to that customer, and a notification is generated to let them know they have a new opportunity to work — all without any manual input.
One of Smartsheet’s fundamental commitments to our customers is continuous improvement. Ensuring that you can move from idea to impact — fast — is critical. Be on the lookout for performance enhancements that will improve formula speed within your sheets. We’re happy to share these changes with you, and look forward to many more to come.
Sounds like a feature update. Not sure if this will address the thing I was looking for though.
What I was looking for was a way to use the populated contact list on a sheet where the correspondant field in the form shows contact list form field as a dropdown select field.
The VLOOKUP feature seems to be a way to use the form post to set the contact list column to a name based on one of the fields in the form?
To achieve the solution I was after would mean to create a new field in the form and populate that with the same names as in the sheet contact list column and then use a formula to set the contact list on the sheet, or I am missing something here?
Regards
Mattias
Ok.
I think the formula in the contact column is the first step and that it will be possible to do what you want later.
It's released now!
