Gannt chart start date does not match the date column
Hi,
Pretty long project, spanning a bit over a year. I'm about halfway through it & the Gannt Dates started getting weird. In the image, Look at "Floors", predecessor 232. The scheduled start date column says 8/13, but the gannt displays the bar starting at 8/14. I dont know if this is related, but the scheduled start dates are now the same as the scheduled end date, NOT the next day. There is no additional coding in the predecessors column other than the line number.
Where do I start to look for errors?

I'm unable to replicate what you're seeing; I've set up my sheet to have the same days, rows, and dependencies... and the date in the grid is showing the next day (not the same end date). I would suggest reaching out to Smartsheet Support on this issue so they can work with you one-on-one and review this specific sheet to find the cause.
You'll want to provide them with this same screen capture, along with the sheet name, and an image of your project settings for this sheet.

I've just replied to your support ticket, but I wanted to also add the details here to ensure that others can find it in the future.

In short, the Start and End Date columns mapped in your project settings have a hidden time value when dependencies are enabled on the sheet. If the real cell value is 8/4/20 4:59pm, then the display value of the cell will be 8/4/20 but the Gantt bar will appear to start on 8/5/20. The above Community thread has details on how to display this hidden time value in another column using a formula.
The most likely cause for this is, at some point in the sequence of predecessors, there was a task which lasted a partial day or had a partial day of lag time. To fix this, you can either try to find that specific task and adjust the lag time/duration, or you can simply adjust the lag time for tasks which appear incorrect.

I added the helper columns to see the "time" portion of the end date & found the error in 30 seconds.
About a month up, one task started at 4:59 PM & ended the next day before noon. That's what started the mess. I fixed that one row & everything went back to normal.
