Edit name in assigned to column

I'd like the assigned to column to simply show the initials of the contacts assigned, as opposed to the full name and email. Is there a way to configure this in Smartsheet?

You could create another column next to it using the formula below to obtain just the initials from the contact if available.

If there is no name and just has an email it will just return blank. If you have an idea of what you want for the case of emails just let me know.

Be sure to replace the "contact" with your contact column.

    =IF(FIND("@", contact@row) > 0, "", LEFT(contact@row, 1) + MID(contact@row, FIND(" ", contact@row) + 1, 1))

cool stuff! any way to get an IFERROR in there for when assigned to is empty? :)

    Tried:

    =IFERROR(IF(FIND("@"; [Assigned To]@row) > 0; ""; LEFT([Assigned To]@row; 1) + MID([Assigned To]@row; FIND(" "; [Assigned To]@row) + 1; 1)); "")

    No joy.
