Using the cell data of a link in "Smartsheet1" to open and filter data in "Smartsheet2"
Hello,
Extremely new to Smartsheet, so bear with me.
I'd like to create a list of names (let's say "Alpha, Bravo, Charlie") in Smartsheet1, with each name being a link to Smartsheet 2.
Smartsheet 2 contains a table in which the column "Names" has various names.
On clicking a link in Smartsheet1, it then opens Smartsheet2 and filters the data in "Names" based on the link clicked.
E.g. Click "Bravo" in Smartsheet1, Smartsheet2 opens with only the rows with "Bravo" showing in the "Name" column are visible.
Hope this makes sense. If it's possible, any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest just creating filters on Sheet 1.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm trying to limit the viewable data in this very specific way.
It's to mimic a system that we currently have that needs replacing. Also, it will make things easier to manage if it could be set up this way.
If it is possible to only allow data to be seen once filtered if it is on the same sheet, I might be open to that suggestion.

Hi @JLawrence
I hope you're well and safe!
Have you explored using the Premium App, Dynamic view?
Is that an option?
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend & Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello @Andrée Starå,
It's definitely an option if it will make it possible to do what I need.
I literally started using Smartsheet last week and I don't know what it would entail to get it working or how much it would cost.
Any pointers?

Hello @Paul Newcome,
Sorry, did you see my reply?
Do you know if it would be possible to only allow data to be seen once filtered if it is on the same sheet?
-
People would be able to turn the filters on and off and select different filters, but it would be essentially the same as clicking on a hyperlink within the sheet to filter the data.
