Locking Dynamic View after a specific date

Hi,

Does Dynamic View offer the capability to lock the view after a specific date? I need users to make some data entries up until a specific date after which they should not be able to make or change any entries. However, they should be able to see their data.

Will locking the rows in the original sheet prevent users from changing their entries in the Dynamic View of that sheet?

Hi @User251

You can set Field Logic rules on the Details panel of the View to lock all of your other fields to be Read Only, based on a value in that row.

What I would suggest doing is set up a dropdown in your source sheet that contains a column formula checking your date and returning a specific text value (ex. "Past Date" or "Lock Row"). Then you can use this helper dropdown as the trigger for your Field logic:

This is the same method I use. I wish the functionality would lock attachments too. Dynamic View users can still add attachments even after the logic lock setup.

@Genevieve P. I'm trying to apply the same logic to another dynamic view, but I'm unable to save it for some reason. I created a column in the sheet that changes to "locked view" after a certain date. However, when I try to add the fields that need to be come read-only in the in the dynamic view, I cannot save the logic. Any suggestions, please?

All you need to do is name the logic (where it says "Rule #1"), then you'll be able to save it. 🙂
