Query String Form Submission
Our company uses a customer management system called Happy Fox. We use query string to capture some data from Happy Fox into Smartsheet. Basically , we set up a smart rule in Happy Fox to deploy an email with a hyperlinked form with the different query parameters in it. That form is emailed to an internal person who simply opens it and hits the submit button to capture the data we want in Smartsheet.
My question is this: Is there a way to eliminate the manual function of opening the link and hitting the submit button but still capture the data in Smartsheet?

Hi @BFuller
If you're on a Business or Enterprise plan, you could use the Smartsheet API to automatically add rows to your sheet. Here's the API documentation on adding rows, and more information about using the Smartsheet API: https://developers.smartsheet.com/
An alternative to using the API would be to use a third party application to set up the automatic connection, such as Zapier.
Cheers,
Genevieve

I like your idea!!! I'm going to try sending a properly formatted query string to an editable "Report" that will in turn update the data smartsheet (instead of using a form). Cut out the email overhead :>)

@phillfri Can you share how you do this?

Not yet. Just starting to work with SmartSheets. I've found there would be a limitation on this approach. Report filtering can only be done by either the report "owner" or an "admin". "Users" cannot filter reports. And you need to hold a "license" to be either a report "owner" or an "admin". I was just assigned a license by my company today, so this is really just an idea to be pursued at this stage.
