Baselines for newly added tasks?

Hi,

Is there a way to use the baseline function for any task that is added to the sheet AFTER the baselines have already been added. For example, the original timeline was 10 rows of tasks. We have 5 new tasks to enter into the timeline. The only option is to "Reset" the baselines, which I do not want to do since the data on the original 10 rows is accurate.

How can we utilize the new baseline function for newly entered tasks on a sheet that has already had baselines entered?

No, Baselines does not currently have the ability to add in individual rows after the original baseline has been set for the sheet. You would need to "reset" the baseline in order to include these new rows into the Baseline part of your plan.

I would suggest creating a Copy of your sheet with Save as New, then adjust your current sheet dates back to the original Baseline Dates, add the 5 new rows, reset the Baseline, and then change the Actual Start/End dates back to what they had adjusted to by copy/pasting from the Copied version of the sheet. (You could also use Cell History to see the previous cell data, but I find copy/paste to be faster).

@Genevieve P. Are There Any Plans to Add This Enhancement Prior to 2023? If not, is it on The Roadmap for 2023. The Manual Process is Time Consuming.

I don't have a timeline for if or when Baselines will be updated. However, we have a new way of creating and tracking enhancement requests!

You can now submit your request to the Product team by creating an Idea Post in the Smartsheet Product Feedback and Ideas topic here in the Community. This will allow other users to vote on your enhancement idea. The top posts each month will be reviewed by the Product team and status posted for that idea.
