How to save a filtered View in a new sheet?

We are using a Master Smartsheet that contains all available project Tasks. Some of the Tasks have been nested (hierarchy) multiple levels deep.

When filtered we can then display the tasks required for a specific project. How do you save this filtered view to a new sheet and retain the nesting without the rows now filtered out?

I have tried copying and pasting whole rows and selecting cells, but I either lose the nesting or copy the rows that are hidden (not displayed) by the Filter that are not needed.

You wont be able to make a filtered view the default view but you can try some other things. You can make the filtered a shared filter and communicate that to those that utilize the sheet or you can build a report from the sheet and set it up the same as your filter.

If you have hierarchies, your best option is probably to copy the data manually to a new sheet.

Im not looking to create a view but a new sheet from the data displayed when the filter is applied. The new sheet would only retain the data from the Master sheet; the hierarchy and not require a filter.

Although I can select and copy the source data, In the New sheet on a different Tab 'Paste' is grayed out. Any thoughts?
