Columns keep collapsing at each reopen
Hi
Every time I open Smartsheet I have to manually resize each column to show all columns as well as to fit the entire sheet to my screen. This also happens when I switch to another application and then switch back to the Smartsheet and I have to redo it over again.
So boring!
Is there any way to tell Smartsheet to keep the set length of the columns not to resize or shrink them at every open?

Hi,
I hope you're well and safe!
They shouldn't change if someone isn't changing them.Is it in the app or web?
Also, have you checked the activity log for clues?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!
Best,

thank you for your prompt response, I'm primarily using the Windows app.
Nobody resizes the columns, they just resize themselves upon each opening of the window.
Any clue how to fix this?

Strange!
Can you share some screenshots of before and after? (Please delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.

Is it possible you aren't saving after you resize the columns? Smartsheet doesn't have continuous save (yet).
If you're adjusting columns, saving, and they resize on open then it's likely a bug. I'd report it to Support. It's not supposed to work that way, and I haven't seen that behaviour myself.

Excellent!
This is because you have Frozen a column and are looking at the Gannt view.If you check at the bottom you can see that there are different sections.
Make sense?

Well, why this should happen with frozen column?
I think the user should be able to adapt the view to their needs and save it without having to resize, or unfreeze and freeze columns every time they get back to the Smartsheet file.
Unfreezing and changing the view helped though.
Thank you

You can. Smartsheet normally saves the size and position of columns and Gantt "splitter".
If someone else edits the sheet and rearranges, unfreezes, etc then the sheet will be different when you open it. Smartsheet doesn't save sheet column size/arrangement settings per user, it's per sheet.
The screenshots you posted were before and after a column freeze, hence Andree's response. If you freeze a column then save, then Smartsheet will remember that frozen column.

thank you for your response.
The screenshots above are both with frozen columns.
Also, I do Save every time I resize it back manually.
However on next open it is shrunk back again hiding all the columns in between.
Besides, all other team members have either view or comment only access so nobody touches the chart or resizes the columns.

Then if it's not saving there's an issue… I'd suggest open a Support ticket. It should save column size, position, frozen status, and Gantt splitter position.

Yes, I agree with Brian.
Submit the support ticket through the new Smartsheet Support Portal.
