Does anyone know if Smartsheet is working on this? I am getting so tired of using OfficeTimeline to create & refresh presentable timelines for our leadership.

Please enable the Timeline view in Report and Dashboard. This is a better way to present timelines in a dashboard vs Gantt charts.

When embeding a sheet into a dashboard the timeline view is not an option to select. This would give more bang for the buck of the new view if it would be available as one of the view options.

Hi Smartsheet team,
I would like to have the following features added to Dashboard "Report" widget.
The new Timeline feature should be an option to be shown in the report. We can only publish the dashboard with status details to Executives. So we have a portfolio/program report out of the individual project plans at high level that we use to create roadmaps and status reports. If there is a way to show timeline view instead of gantt chart view in reports it would look much more presentable.

Being able to publish a timeline view on a dashboard would plug a large gap in functionality for us. Calendar views look great if your project is a few days - but are no use for things lasting multiple weeks. Gannt views are too cluttered for high level visualization. The Timeline is just right.

Yes! A time line that allows several ticks within the start and finish of a project. The visual impact is much better than a gantt sometimes. Having this will allow users to choose a timeline or gantt to show what they are trying to convey. Even a stackable bar chart would be nice showing the start and end dates of each part of a project, without using a traditional gantt..

Totally agree with this. Often asked to produce a top level timeline for senior leadership. It would be good if you could go through the plan and choose what you want to show - whether its headings or certain milestones, or even certain activities. If it could plot that on a tailorable timeline (that you could choose), showing years, or months or weeks etc it would save loads of bespoke efforts to produce something consumable at the top table!

Agreed! Being able to embed a Timeline view into our dashboard would allow us to display a much cleaner view of our yearly plan

The new Timeline feature is great, thank you, but it needs further enhancing to be useful. I and many others need to present a high-level timeline in the dashboard to management. One immediate way may be to add the Milestone field in the group selection feature which only has 3 choices at the moment; Health, Resource and Status. This way only the tasks checked as Milestones would show and I could copy and past this into a Image Widget for now in the Dashboard. Currently I am using Office Timeline to do this. A more robust solution would be to add a Timeline widget that would automatically perform this.

I feel like I've done this before just by creating new dropdown columns, which are what you need to add extra fields to the group by option.

I came here to request this - we have a solution where each department has their own sheet to record firm processes bc we want to limit access to only that department but leadership has expressed a desire for a timeline view that goes across all departments and we have struggled to implement this. We do use calendar app but they prefer the look adn feel of the timeline view.
