Why did the format change on automated alert notifications?

I have made changes to automations to send a custom message to include the details from the columns. This gets them all the detail they need without having to go in to the Smartsheet. Hopefully this change gets changed back at some point though.
-
Unfortunately, this just isn't a practical option for us as we'd have hundreds of automations to update for projects deployed via Control Center even if we only did this on active projects… and we also can't update automations via the API.
-
Oh yes- not practical for all of ours either. I still want the old way back. Just an option for those high priority ones.

I like the new format, it looks a lot tidier without the links and the rows, but the blue box and "Open Smartsheet" makes you want to click on it and thus requesting access to the Smartsheet. We use Smartsheet to notify people of the changes to their process when I update the smartsheet and do not wish for them to have access to the it. If there is an option to "Read Only" showing the row changes (without the words showing "Row Changes") then that would be perfect for me.

Hi all,
Thank you again for your feedback regarding the updated Alert look and format. Based on this there has been another update released: instead of the blue "Open in Smartsheet" button, the email shows the sheet name and link as it did previously, just with the updated styling.
This sheet link URL is included in alerts if you are sending row information along with the alert. You can remove this by sending a Message Only type of alert - here's more information:
If you still need the sheet link removed, it would be helpful for the Product team to hear about all the different use-cases for this. Please add your comments and votes to this related Product Idea: Option to Not Include Sheet Link on Notifications
Thank you,

Is there an option to remove the large blue box that surrounds the 'repeat' of Subject line to stop wasting so much real estate in the email body? this forces everyone to have to scroll down 1/2 page to get to the pertinent data shared in the alert - i can't imagine anyone preferring this new look, but i do appreciate that the Open in smartsheet button went away and was replaced by the name of the sheet that generated the alert.

Hi @Nomland
There currently isn't a way to customize other areas of the email alert, other than the content of the messages.

The link to the sheet is no longer live with this change?
All my alerts that are set up as "links to sheet and specific fields" show up with the new format, but the link doesn't work. The receiver of the alert can still access the sheet via the link in the fine print at the bottom, but it is hardly intuitive. Wondering if there is a setting I need to adjust?

Hi @Nate@E
The sheet link underneath the message should still work:
If clicking on this does not take you to the sheet, I would suggest checking with your IT department to see if there have been any updates regarding URLs and Hyperlinks in emails.
Cheers,

Thanks @Genevieve P. - that makes sense. thanks

This link hasn't worked since they replaced the Open in Smartsheet button with this new Name of the sheet. I thought you stated that was intentional. Our IT didn't update anything regarding URL's or hyperlinks in emails.
does the new Sheet name icon work as a link to the sheet for any of you?
-
We are seeing it like this, and yes the link button on these do work.
The URL in this example is something I had embedded in the message itself. It is not a clickable link, but that's expected.
-
Ok, so the Sheet name icon is NOT a clickable link?- I was just looking to see if all of us are experiencing same result with this new automated alert format.
-
What I indicated with an arrow in my post IS clickable.
The URL in the message body is what is NOT clickable… apologies if that was confusing.

Hi all,
Our support team has looked into this further based on the conflicting reports here; what we've found is that the Sheet Link is not clickable on Outlook desktop app, however these links work as expected on Outlook online and other online email providers.
I don't have an ETA for when this will be resolved but hopefully this helps clarify!
Cheers,
