Meet Amit Wadhwani, our December Member Spotlight! 🎉

It’s the holiday season, and we’re featuring a very special Community member to help us end the year: @Amit Wadhwani, Community Champion and our December Member Spotlight!

Amit is the Vice President of Operations at Ignatiuz, Inc. and lives in Pennsylvania in the US. In 2017, his manager at the time asked him to look for project management solutions that could help them simplify managing their projects and progress reports. “After evaluating several other tools, I found Smartsheet to be very intuitive and powerful,” he explains. And he’s been using Smartsheet ever since! 

Today, Amit enjoys helping clients use Smartsheet to solve big, sometimes complex problems. One of his favorite stories begins with a customer who needed to store raw material at various storage conditions. Though rare, occasionally the handlers would mistakenly keep materials in incorrect storage conditions, but they wouldn’t become aware until the raw material was retrieved for manufacturing, which could mean weeks or even months had passed. This had a threefold impact: The cost of non-conformance validation, the cost of the material itself, and the fees paid for safe disposal.

Amit and his team went to work, building a solution that allowed the handlers to use the Smartsheet mobile app to scan the material to ensure that it was being kept at the right storage location. Any deviations would immediately trigger an alert to the supervisor and manager, springing them into an approval process that would ensure the material was quickly moved to the appropriate place. This provided the client high traceability and resulted in zero non-conformances for the last four years, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In the future, Amit hopes to introduce more AI into his processes to automate work. His goal is to integrate Autonomous Agents which will facilitate decision making, and power up automations overall.

As a Community Champion, Amit says that the Community has helped him learn about the power of helping others. “When I was new, I used to post a lot of questions which were answered by experts,” he says. “When my knowledge evolved, I felt that it was my turn to give it back to the Community. I still need to rely on the Community for help sometimes, and they welcome me back with open arms.”

When he’s not building Smartsheet solutions, Amit loves to spend time with his daughter, listening to her stories or going on bike rides or hikes together. He also likes to take university classes every year to keep his knowledge updated.
