Unlock the Power of Interactive Dashboards in Smartsheet: Control, Customize, and Create with Ease!

I recently answered a question in the post below, but I wanted to share the solution here for the benefit of the wider community.

In Smartsheet dashboards, we’re limited by the available widget types. For example, there are no control widgets, which means that solution builders often need to duplicate dashboards with different reports and filters for regions, populations, or categories. This increases the workload.

Third-party tools like Google Looker Studio allow for the creation of more interactive and powerful dashboards. Looker Studio supports a wide variety of visualizations, including funnels, maps, and more, which significantly enhance the user experience.

But how can we get similar functionality in Smartsheet and avoid duplicating dashboards? The answer lies in the Smartsheet Looker Studio Connector. This connector securely connects your Smartsheet account to Looker Studio using the API key, allowing you to pull in any sheet or report. Once your data is in Looker Studio, you can design dynamic, interactive dashboards with control filters.

After designing your dashboard in Looker Studio, simply embed it into Smartsheet. Voila! You now have a powerful, interactive dashboard that uses live Smartsheet data and offers impressive visualizations, all within Smartsheet’s environment.

@akhalid - thank you for posting this. I believe you're aware that large organizations and corporates follow strict guidelines with regards to software usage and third party downloads. At Verizon, we do not have the option to pick and choose just any add ons or connectors randomly that are not "company-approved" and that is vital because we are governed by confidentiality, compliance and security protocols.

We need Smartsheet to include a looker studio capability in our existing enterprise/business plan or we won't be able to use it. That's why I added the question/request to Smartsheet.

@Ipshita , yes I am aware that big companies don't trust 3rd party products. They prefer to stay with Microsoft.
