@Rebeca S. I have thank you card from a colleague. I spent some time troubleshooting an issue with his Smartsheet account. I thought nothing of it but he tapped on my door (just a few minutes after we resolved the issue) and handed me a thank you card. I keep it on my desk to remind myself that though I am working behind the scenes, others do appreciate the work. Also, the fact that he has thank you cards in his possession for real time occa sions makes me appreciate my colleagues even more.

A little trinket with the inscription "Choose Kindness" because no matter the situation, it reminds me to intentionally choose kindness. Even when I'm holding people accountable, trying to finish high-pressure work, or getting interrupted during focus time, I need this reminder because sadly it doesn't always come naturally to me.

I can't work at my peak without a wall calendar. Truthfully I have two- a 12 month and a 1 month. Old School you say? Yes I know, but it keeps me organized, focused, and thinking of the future.

I have a motivational daily calendar on my desk that I check every morning to see what today's positive words are!

I know loads of people have personal mementos and although I have pictures and little trinkets that remind me of my son, I could do without my dual monitors :) I know this is technically 2 items, but they came as a pair when I joined my company. I would not be as productive using just my itty bitty laptop monitor.

I live in Upstate NY so winters always get me into a seasonal depression. One thing I have done is on my wall I have a huge spring like/happy vibe tapistry as well as I have a stuffed emotional support pickle with the saying "I will always be around to let you know that you are a BIG DILL!" This is on the clean side of my desk as where the other side under my laptop and stand is my stack of mail/papers.

I'm on my tenth year of keeping a daily paper planner (Erin Condren Life Planner). Although it's old-school, physically writing obligations down helps me keep track of everything (appointments, home maintenance, etc). I love having a mix of physical and analog reminders!

My desk is like SUPER empy, basically just the computer on it. One thing that I have found that I keep on there is a Rubik's cube. I don't remember where or when I got this one but it was something I used to really enjoy way back in highschool. I think it took me like 3 or 4 days to figure out how to do on my own but was probably a good sign that I was going to end up an engineer or mathematician one day as anyone who has solved one without instructions knows it is not possible to do unless you understand permutations. So here we are 20 years later, and I guess it has always meant more to me than I would have thought cause there's still one there.

I typically don't have much on my desk as I work from a few different locations throughout the week, but I do have my mousepad with our "company dogs" on it, which I love.
-
My favorite item on my desk has to be a canvas portrait that says, "A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear". I love it because smiling is contagious. It's warm, friendly and just makes you more approachable.

A coaster that I was given in 2002 as part of attending a conference, which has been on every desk I've had since then. To me, it is an heirloom.

My outlets. 😎 I dare not send my actual photo, but this gives you the idea.

Mine is boring but essential. I have my blood sugar test kit always on my desk :) Everything else I try and keep as clear as possible.

I work a couple of days in the office and the rest of the week at home, so I have 2 desks.
On my away-from-home office desk I have to Baoding balls that I will rotate in my hand as a form of stress relief. They also help with my carpal tunnel, and arthritis.
On my home office desk, I have a Funko POP figure of Gizmo from the Gremlins movies. I've just always liked the original movie. I am a big fan of practical effects and I wish more movies and tv shows would go back to doing that (Like in Gremlins) instead of CGI. -
Choose an item on your desk, why is it important to you?
The item I chose is not technically "on" my desk, but it is hanging up on my cubicle wall to the right of my desk. Why is this important to me? It is important to me because it is a constant reminder of why I do what I do and the type of person I want to be. It also reminds me every day of how much I love my job because I get to use Smartsheet every single day! In fact, it is because of my work using the Smartsheet platform that I found myself, a few years back, with a promotion and a role built specifically for that work. The added bonus is the picture of my sweet granddaughters, and they, too, are constant reminders of why I strive every day to be a better version of myself than I was the day before. In fact, my entire workstation is filled with pictures of family, words of affirmation & thank you notes from co-workers, knick-knacks, Smartsheet Swag, etc., and everything in my workspace is a reflection of who I am and why I do what I do. I truly am pursuing my passion!!
