Weekly columns

Hi there

I think I am missing something here.

I want to set up a list of tasks which will be due in certain weeks of the year and are repeated. For example.

  • Review website pages... Second week of each month
  • Write a blog article: Last week of the month
  • Post Facebook update: Each week.

Do I set up 52 columns with the week ending on.. dates?

Many thanks.

I'd investigate using update requests that refresh on that cadence. As far as I know, there's no way to automatically "move the date" when a task needs to be done next; however, update requests, I think, should bridge the gap in that functionality.

There are many questions related to recurring tasks.

In general, I would NOT set up a column for each week. It will really give you headache when trying to use Reports.

    Instead, I would either:

    1. Use the same row again and again for the same task.

    2. Create a new task when either

    a) the first task is completed

    or

    b) the 'start date' is reached.

This takes a bit of setup, only because every persons definition of what a recurring task is is different. In my opinion, every task is different and there is no universal answer. My annual task for taxes is very different than my annual task for anniversary shopping, even though they both have a hard deadline and the lead time may be similar.
