I'm trying to understand how and when a new contact will receive an invitation to log in and set his or her password. Does this occur when a new contact is added? When a contact is added to a group? To a specific record on a Smartsheet? Any pointers would be helpful.
Hello Cameron,
Thank you for this question! I will be happy to advise on when someone will receive an email notice from Smartsheet regarding an invitation or prompt to set a password for their account.
When someone signs up for Smartsheet, is added to an existing account, or they are shared to a sheet when they don't have an existing Smartsheet account associated to the email address used, it will prompt them to access their new account and set a password. If they are shared to a sheet, the sharing invitation email will display the following, "Click the button to accept your invitation and set your password."
Please note:
Additionally adding an email to a Smartsheet Group, won't notify them that they've been added. If you then share that Group to a Smartsheet item, the email addresses that have been added will then receive an email notifying them of the shared item.
Kind Regards
