Re: June Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
What is the best example of a community that I have seen?
When I reflect on the many communities, I’ve been part of — whether professional networks, local groups, or online forums — one stands out brightly: the Smartsheet community.
What makes this group so special? It’s not just the shared knowledge or the tips and tricks exchanged (though those are valuable too). It’s the spirit behind the interactions. Every time I read the comments, suggestions, or ideas shared in that space, I feel something deeper:
- Empathy — People genuinely care about each other’s challenges and wins.
- Happiness — There’s a joy in helping, in lifting others up, that radiates through every thread.
- Generosity — Folks are not just answering questions; they’re offering their time, their lessons learned, and sometimes even reaching out directly to offer help.
I’ve been personally touched by this, receiving unexpected support and encouragement from members who just wanted to help.
Being part of this community makes me feel honored — like I’m standing among people who are not just experts, but also kind-hearted collaborators. It’s a reminder that the best communities aren’t just about what you know; they’re about how you share it.

Is there any other community than this Smartsheet Community? Do you even Community? This Community is the only one I've ever found myself participate in. In other communities I'm just a lurker.

Re: Failed to share operating workspace with PMO
Not a group.
Our account admin was not shared to the Parent Workspace and the blueprint lists the them as owner.
I shared it and it looks like it's all working now, so I am thinking that's what caused the error.
Thanks for your reply!
Re: Updating one sheet from another
Hi,
I hope you're well and safe!
To add to Tomasz's excellent advice/answer.
If you don't have access to the Table View, you can use a combination of INDEX/MATCH instead.
In any case, you can use the VIN to connect them.
More info.
Here's the structure for an INDEX/MATCH combination.
=INDEX({ColumnWithTheValueYouWantToShow}, MATCH(CellThatHaveTheValueToMatch@row,{ColumnWithTheValueToMatchAgainsTheCell}, 0)
To connect them row by row, you could use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row ID on as many rows as you need in the Destination sheet.
Update because I reread the post and noticed that I missed what Paul mentioned. I agree with him, use MAX COLLECT instead.
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic day!

Re: Community Recommendations - Let's share our favorites!
LOL @joelsmit94161 - my son’s obsessed with asking ChatGPT 'who would win' matchups. The answers are always hilarious and weirdly deep. It's like snack-sized philosophy with superheroes!

Re: May Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
This is the funniest feed. I would explain this the same to a 5 year old as to an adult. I make people smile and keep them present. I work with people making their lives a little nicer and easier every day. Be Kind, share a smile. We don't have enough of it in our world.

Re: Community Recommendations - Let's share our favorites!
I have to agree with Michelle on ChatGPT. As I was packing up to move to my new office, I thought "Who would win in a battle of US presidents(in their prime) with no weapons." Once I was done packing I looked back at ChatGPT and read the results of my question while I ate lunch. It was quite entertaining.
Re: Extract the text word from a date column
Hi @Michael Albano,
@AdamSYNH's answer is excellent!
I'd also recommend using a different AI service for Smartsheet formulas in the future. I use ChatGPT's 4o model and get pretty good results compared to Smartsheet's AI. The downside is that you have to tell ChatGPT more about your sheet, since it doesn't have direct context from your sheet.
Best!
