Lets see for 2024 the goal I have given myself would be to set up a Smartsheet support team within my company. We have over 90,000 employees around the world and started using Smartsheet in July of 2022 but the push to use Smartsheet has only just begun.

Form fields to include Comments
It would be really great if, in the manage forms section, form builders are able to insert a comments field that would populate as a comment on the row once the form is submitted.
I have searched many product ideas and did not see this, but I did find older conversations in the community stating that it would be desirable.
We have tried to move away from including "Notes" type columns within sheets so that notes and comments are all located in the comments with user and date stamps. This also makes viewing several lines on a report cleaner, and for those that want more detail, the comments can be reviewed.
We want to apply this same logic when collecting requests on a form. Most of the data regarding the request can easily be confined to a single text line, except for any additional comments. Adding these to a comments column means in the report, you either have a super wide column to be able to read more of this text, or you have several lines of wrapped text, expanding the height of the row for only one field.
Manually moving the comments from a column to the row conversation once the form submission populates on the sheet is inefficient.
Comments can be added to an update request, but it is not possible to send an update request for a form submission that has not yet been made.
Re: Update Request using a Form
I agree! Having the ability to customize the forms in an update request is critical from our user experience. Our column headers are fine for general awareness the helper text has more context so people can review and respond correctly. Even having the ability where the help text is included in the update request workflow automation would get us closer to what we need.

Dashboard Width
Why is the width of the dashboard constrained? It seem to at best only use 2/3's of a typical HD screen.
When can we expect some upgrades to the dashboard layout and tools. It is very clunky and has very little in the way of options for formatting?

Re: Rich Text formatting in cells
Glad to see this is on the roadmap. Since you asked, some specific examples and use cases for our firm:
Obviously - highlighting specific text within a cell by BOLD, COLOR, italics, strikethrough, etc...
Adding a hyperlink in a cell, and not having to set the entire cell as a hyperlink. And having more than one hyperlink in a cell.
The ability to do all of that via formulas... either by setting the format IN the formula, or by passing the formatting of the referenced cell(s) so that when concatenated, the text takes on all the individual formats. And vice versa, the ability to override the formatting coming from the referenced cell.
And speaking of formulas...
- The ability
- to add bullets
- and carriage
- returns
- in a formula
Use case example 1 - intake tickets - since current form limitations require a separate column for each form field dropdown, my intake form has about ~20 'helper' columns. The selections are concatenated back into a 'summary' column. That summary has no contextual hierarchy. I use ">" between parts so it looks like this (except without the "." because this field thinks I am quoting)
Issue .> Autocad .> Cannot open file .> Tried Self Help: Yes .> [filepath]
or
Request .> Filesharing folder .> [Project Name] .> [Expiration Date] .> [Owner] .> [Users]
When it would look like
- Request: Fileshare
- Project: [Name]
- Expiration: [date]
- Owner: [name]
- Users: [names]
Use case example 2: We have a status update report that collects information from various sheets and summarizes for our clients. The ability to pass it through into something easier to read would be a great help.
So instead of
Key milestones this week: [text string], [text string], [text string], [text string]
I could get
Key Milestones this week:
- text string
- text string with key info highlighted
- text string
I am sure some of this is possible if I set up helper columns, helper sheets, cross sheet references, vlookup formulas and indexing all tied to a dashboards with cross linking derivative equations...
or I could just use rich text in the cell 😁
In summary, I would be very happy to be able to do everything I can do in this community post for formatting... and wouldn't even ask for the embedded image part. Maybe next year for that...

Re: Indent/Outdent Rows not showing on Reports and Dashboards
It would be great if this could be realized. I have the same issue/request.
Automate reminders for Update Requests
I would like the ability to automate reminders for pending Update Requests where the user has not yet responded. When the user submits the update request, the reminders would stop. Ideally it could be built into Automations to select pending update requests and send a reminder after X days or within X days of a due date, with the original update request link. Another option would be to have a resend option in the Update Request options dropdown. Thanks!

My focus for 2024 is to do more for me. More time in nature, more photography, more movement.

Happy New Year SmartSheet Community!
My overarching goal of 2024 is to manage my spare time more efficiently. Reflecting back on 2023, there were so many goals I had created for myself, but did not achieve because I did not manage my spare time effectively.
This year, I am set in stone with planning the things I would like to do using the SMART method, whether it is creating one SmartSheet solution per month, saving a certain amount of money per paycheck, or even trying a new baking recipe every other weekend. Being able to measure and monitor the activities I would like to pursue will help provide a sense of small achievements and as well as the ability to scale my bandwidth.
But with setting time management goals comes sacrificing less productive leisure activities such as spending time on social media or giving up specific shopping habits. Overall, the key is to remain consistent and resilient while tracking the progression!
Happy 2024! :)
