Smartsheet integration with Docusign Demo Account
Hi there. I'd like to submit an enhancement request for Smartsheet integration with non-production Docusign accounts (Demo and/or personal sandbox). This would support standard life cycle of development and production deployments; it would also eliminate cost associated with sending test Docusign envelopes in production. Thank you. Radke Novotny
Function() or @argument for "currently logged in user" for use in Sheet formulas
I would like there to be a function() or @argument (e.g., User() or @user, perhaps?) that I could use in Sheet formulas that would evaluate to the "currently logged in user".
This would enable more flexible Filters in Sheets that could be supported by Helper columns for evaluating logic against multiple multi-select Person columns.
Use case: I have a Sheet that that has an Assigned To column and a Consult With column, both of which are multi-select Person columns. The Sheet also has a Status column. I'd like to create a Filter on this Sheet that shows "Open" (i.e., not Complete) Status rows where the Current User is in either the Assigned To or Consult With columns.
I can't figure out how to do this with the built-in Filter functionality because it cannot do complex AND/OR logic — it's either all conditions match or any conditions match, but not a combo. Filters also cannot do the "inverse" resultset like Reports can, so I don't think I can do an anti-filter for this Sheet filter.
Having an "@user" argument, similar to the existing @row and @cell arguments, would enable this kind of functionality.
I assume this functionality should be possible since Filters can already filter by "current user", which seems to be evaluated when the Sheet loads. The @user formula argument should be able to be evaluated at the same time.
I suppose there could be an issue with Automations/Workflows that would rely on columns that include this argument, since there would not be a logged in user (other than the System / Automation user, I suppose). Perhaps safeguards could be put in place to avoid issues like this, such as a Catch condition that could return some controlled error… but also perhaps this would just always evaluate as FALSE or N/A regardless?
I asked about this in the following Community post, but there have not been any valid solutions offered yet:
Function for "current user" to use in formula? — Smartsheet Community
Re: Preview all files and attachments: Excel, word, etc
Without the ability to preview files, the workflow for our support team is clunky, inefficient, and more prone to error. As a result, the support team is looking to move to Jira rather than Smartsheet.
Re: AI AGENT/LLM: What did you teach AI to make them effective?
I use Gemini pretty regularly to do a number of things, both personally and professionally. It can be really finicky with complex Smartsheet formulas, but it's better than Smartsheet's internal AI.
I often use it to draft things like LinkedIn posts, letters, etc. I expect that it'll get me 90% of the way there and then I'll have to do some fine-tuning and that's generally the case. However, whenever I do the fine-tuning, I also paste that back in and tell it "This is the final version I'm using. Please learn from this." Doing that has helped it get better and better at understanding how I word things, the tone I use for different types of writing, etc. and that has cut down quite a bit on how much I have to tweak.
One thing about Gemini that's different from ChatGPT is that, from one thread to another, it doesn't keep a universal memory. I therefore have specific threads going for specific use-cases and just continue to come back to them as needed.
Allow editing of settings for Jira Connector Workflows
Right now, once you create a Workflow in the Jira Connector, you are not allowed to modify the settings that were initially chosen. You have to create a new workflow and a new grid to feed your report. We should have the ability to change the settings on the workflow, even after it is saved.
Restrict Upgrading User Account if Asset Shared with Editor Permission
With the new subscription model, Smartsheet automatically upgrades a user’s access if an asset or sheet is shared with them using Editor permissions. This behavior should be restricted when the Account Admin has already designated the user as a "Viewer" for licensing purposes.
Re: Group Management - Sorting Contact List Alphabetically
Still waiting for better management tools - years and years later.
Re: Update Request Customization - descriptions and headers like a Form
Just a +1 for this idea! One of the biggest issues we have with update requests is that we can't enforce any validation on the data people submit. Allowing us to use one of our existing forms, including validation and logic, would greatly improve data quality from update requests (and also improve the user experience for users receiving update requests).
Notification Bell. Automatically remove notices that have been read from view
At the Notification Bell, I know you can remove ALL notifications if you wish, as well as manually Trash individual notices, but can the "read" emails be removed so that the user doesn't need to scroll through them to find the un-read emails? Or maybe an option to manually delete the "read" notices?
Re: View Collections from the Browse Screen
Smartsheet should look in to adding the collections in a workspace to to the Browse screen on desktop. Currently on mobile when you are shared to a collection and no other assets in the workspace you can still see the workspace when you click Browse and open the collection from there. On desktop you have to open an asset in that workspace and open the worskspace panel to see the collections. Adding collections on the browse screen would eliminate the unnecessary step of opening an asset first.
