Linked Sheets
Hello,
I have 'saved as new' a sheet and then linked the 2 sheets.
What is the best way to add rows to the source/ sheet and ensure they will be automatically show & linked in the designated sheet?
On the source sheet, I have tried to copy/paste an existing linked row, but I don't see the 'gray arrows' (indicating the linking) on the new row.
Also tried to add a row (above or below) and then copy/paste, but again the 'gray arrows' indicating the linking, do not show.
Thanks,
Tali

Hi @TaliRXM - The best way for what you are trying to achieve, is to use an automation workflow to copy/move rows into another sheet. The template is available under Automation tab -
Here is the help article for you to get started -
Hope this helps!

Hi @TaliRXM
I hope you're well and safe!
To add to Ipshita's excellent advice/answer.
You can't use cell linking when you're adding new rows. It only works on "activated" cells/rows.
You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
To connect them row by row, you could use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row id on as many rows as you need in the Destination sheet.
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Thanks Ipshita and Andrée.
The x2 sheets are already linked. Not sure I understand your suggestion. Do you mean leave the current linking and add an automation workflow and or a formula?
I don't want to remove the Linking.
In the past I spoke with someone at Smartsheet Customer Service/Help and they said to copy/paste a row in the source sheet (update with new information) and it will automatically will be linked to destination sheet like the rest of the cells.
Best,
Tali

Happy to help!
There's no way to have Cell-links added automatically in that way, so that's why I recommend using INDEX/MATCH instead because it can be more dynamic.
Make sense?

Thanks.
I will look again. I don't believe it will work the way I like.
