Is it possible to update a contact list column based on a value in another cell?

Is it possible to update a contact list column based on a value in another cell using a formula? I am creating an assigned to contact list column with an end goal in mind of setting up a dynamic view based on setup specialist (my understanding is you can only set a user view based on a contact column). As you can see - I already have a column with the setup specialists' name listed and want the contact list to update based on the name listed here. Any suggestions?

You'd need to use the Premium App, Data Shuttle, or the Smartsheet API.

Hi Andree!

Thank you for your response. I do have access to premium / data shuttle, not familiar with smartsheet api. Could you give me some pointers on how I would go about doing this via data shuttle? I currently have an upload workflow setup - could I make the changes here to achieve what I want?

Unfortunately, that route won't work....Per the learning page, it only updates if the contact list is changed in another location. A contact list is not changing in another location.

Yes, if I understand you correctly, you can still get it to work.

I recently developed something similar for a client. We used a Master Sheet where we copied the row to the sheet, and that updated the list. I used a so-called helper column to make it work in another solution.

@Andrée Starå I don't follow.... Can you elaborate on how you achieved this? How do you format the helper column?
