Changing startdate without losing the predecessor

Hi,
I've read on previous discussions that this was asked. I have a task (#2, for example) that has a predecessor ("Task #1" for example), but is not starting right after the the predecessor task, but you cannot adjust the start date without losing the linkage between the two.
was this resolved in Smartsheet?

Hello
You can edit the predecessor information to add LAG time. Go to the predecessor column on row 2 and use the little pencil icon to open the dialog box. Add a numeric value to the Lag Time box to push your start date to the correct date. (The number in LAG works in the same way as your duration column)
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Debbie
