Document builder capability: make a PDF editable within Smartsheet

Document builder's requirement to use a fillable PDF matched with the inability to edit that PDF within Smartsheet means that any PDF requiring edits, which for my company is 100%, needs to be downloaded, edited on desktop, and re-uploaded. That process offsets any efficiency gained in the original automation and makes document builder unworkable. Also, Smartsheet does not have the capability to automate a Google Doc merge, which would be another way to automate the process. As a result, we are stuck manually running merges in Google Docs and uploading the files to Smartsheet. It would be wonderful if Smartsheet would integrate additional file formats into document builder, make a PDF editable within the Smartsheet platform, or create a solution for Google Doc merge automation.
