Saving eMail History

Only solution found:  

- cc myself on all email requests; this does not create/manage history well

- create email as a discussion; save, then send that discussion 

 

Is it possible to save email's sent via smartsheets as part of the discussion for that line item?

As you mention, copying yourself is perhaps the fastest / easiest way to keep track of sent emails today, but that event is not visible inside the app. We are designing tools to surface a history of sheet activities like this -- it may include which emails went out, when, who sent them, and the content.  We'll interpret your feedback as a vote for this feature!

We'd also like to see the history of emails sent through Smartsheets.  It's importrant for us to be able to document who sent what and when, especially as we pull more of our team members into Smartsheet discussions.  CC'ing yourself to get an email just creates a logistical problem of trying to organize what gets sent out (i.e. did I send this info out to the mechanical engineer?  Let me look through my emails).  Please add the history of emails to the comment column.

Hi Bryce-- This feature has not been implemented, but it is on our enhancement request list and I will add your vote for it! We are considering some new features like this as part of an ongoing sheet history project that Scott mentioned in an earlier post, so your feedback will help us prioritize.

Add my vote to the count...or at least make an option to CC myself a default. I will sometimes forget to check it off and there is no way to go back.

Yup. +1 for this. At the very least, I would like to have the abilit yto CC myself by default. This one is costing me a few grand because I have no back up of the email chain from Smartsheet.
