Check box for parent row only

I have a sheet where there is a helper column that says either Parent or Child. If the helper states "Parent", I want the checkbox in a column named "Report" to be checked. Otherwise (if the Helper states "Child") I want the checkbox in the "Report" column to be unchecked.

Can this be done with a formula or conditional formatting?

This can be done with a formula or Automation.

Formula:

if(Helper@row="Parent",1,0)

Automation:

When Helper Column changes to Parent set Report cell to checked.
