Changing the "Send As" for Notification/Alert Emails

We have multiple Smartsheets throughout our organization that use workflows to automate alert/notification emails to staff based on certain worksheet criteria.

A challenge we have is that the email gets sent "From" the person who created the workflow. As a result, even if we put within the notification text who specifically to contact if there are any questions, still 95% of users just hit "Reply" which contacts the workflow creator who often is not related at all to the content and may just have been a Smartsheet SME.

Is there any way to change the "From" address on these email notifications so we can ensure that replies go to the correct individuals. Deleting and recreating workflows is not a feasible solution due to the number of workflows that use them.

    We use multiple automations and when setting them up we set the notifications sending options as per the screenshot below and when we receive the notification it comes from [email protected].

  • Hi John! I have just moved our workflows over to this setting. It appears that any replies would still go to the Owner of the Smartsheet per the help text, but it's surely better than the email appearing like it came from one person specifically.

    It'd be great if there was a way to add a specific email address to send replies to. Large orgs often have teams of people addressing internal customer support activities, so the ability to send replies to a group email address would be very nice. We have all of our alert actions duplicated (one to the intended recipient, one to the group email address) for awareness, but it doesn't resolve how easy it is to hit "Reply" on that email the recipient receives and send off an email to the wrong person.

    Fingers crossed with the emails now showing as from "automation" that the help text within the alert itself is followed :D
