I work at the School.of Medocine at Southern Illinois University. I am the project (and program) coordinator within Financial Affiars for rhe school and Healthcare Practice.

I have only been using Smartsheets for about 3 months, Ive been in this position for 2 years but it took some time to get the right tools

Today I use Smartsheets dor project intake and tracking. Ive started a policies and procedures inventory and I plan to use Smartsheet to schedule a review committee for those documents

I'd like to learn how what others use Smartsheets for.

Hello, I work at Northeastern University in the Office of the Provost. I've been using Smartsheet for a number of years but have only been with NU for three years. We use Smartsheet to manage projects with dashboards for easy reporting and to provide context to what has been completed and upcoming milestones and tasks. Our projects roll up to a portfolio dashboard. We also use it as a workflow process tool to track position requests and nominations.

I'd appreciate seeing how other universities are using Smartsheet.

• How are you using Smartsheet today or planning to in the future? Forms for intake, surveys, etc. Tracking of projects (basic, rudimentary).

I'm so exciting this group is around. I'm looking forward to connecting b/c smartsheet is not widely used here on my campus, I'm trying to get more to use the tool but the buyin is tough. We have a good handful using SMAR but that's it.

• Where do you work and what’s your department/role? I'm at DeAnza College, Cupertino, CA student services working in the outreach office.
• How long have you been using Smartsheet? I've been using smartsheets for 7 years now and can't let it go, it's my primary tool for anything program management.
• How are you using Smartsheet today or planning to in the future? I use it for hiring onboarding, program tracking, conference planning.
• What else would you like to learn from your peers in the education industry? I'm excited to learn what others are doing and how they're running their operations for specific programs.

Hi everyone! I'm Kristen Christman, the marketing and communications project manager at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania. I'm so excited Smartsheet has created this community for us higher education folks, and am looking forward to connecting with you all!

I have been using Smartsheet for about three years and we use it primarily to intake and track the projects our marketing and communications team manages. I presented on this during a Higher Ed User Group webinar back in March, so if you are interested in learning more about our processes I invite you to watch the recording! 

We also just onboarded Brandfolder (the DAM integrated with Smartsheet) so are excited to see how that unfolds and can make our lives easier. We came from another DAM, but were really sold on the integration between Brandfolder and Smartsheet and some of the other bonus features the DAM had to offer.

I love learning how others are using Smartsheet and am always asking questions to see if there are different or even better/more efficient ways for us to be using the tool. I'll now be wearing that hat when it comes to Brandfolder, so if you're a newbie (like us) to Brandfolder, or have been using it a while, I'd love to connect to see how other higher ed institutions use/manage theirs!

Hello!

My name is Jimmy Hughes, and I work at Penn State in the College of Engineering. My title is Instructional Technology Specialist. I have been using Smartsheet for 3 years but just got on an Enterprise-level account in the past year.

I use Smartsheet mainly to organize our courses for the Learning Design team. I have been rebuilding our processes better utilizing some of the advanced DataShuttle, DataMesh, and Pivot apps. Once I optimize the course process, I plan to do some cool API things with Smartsheet & Canvas.

As for what I would like to learn, I would love to hear how other groups handle their course assignments via Smartsheet, and if anyone else does API calls to Canvas from Smartsheet (with Python).

I work with a large school district in California and run all our projects from the IT side using this product. I integrate our vendors into is as well as speak at conferences about using it in a K12 environment to take the fire out of everything. More than happy to share with anyone on how we do it. We run an Agile Scrum office with it.

Hello!

My name is Ally Hepp, I run our IT Project Management Office at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). I've been using Smartsheet for about 6 months to stand up project and portfolio tracking for our IT division, and we plan to extend this to other divisions on our campus as we are able. I'm always interested to hear how others are using Smartsheet to manage projects and how they are scaling things at an enterprise level.

My name is Christina, and I'm a Learning Program Manager for a Large Veterinary Company. I work remotely, but from Winter Springs, Fl. I've been using Smartsheet for a little over 1 year now, and it's become a real go-to tool for streamlining various workflows.

I leverage Smartsheet for a lot of learning and development (L&D) initiatives. I use it for things like:

• Tracking learner progress: Building dashboards to visualize course completion rates, identify learning gaps, and monitor overall program effectiveness.
• Managing training materials: Creating sheets to organize training content, track revisions, and assign ownership for different modules.
• Developing performance management tools: Setting up templates for performance reviews, tracking goals, and providing feedback.

Looking ahead, I'm exploring ways to use Smartsheet for:

• Automating tasks: Utilizing automations to streamline repetitive processes like sending reminders or updating learner statuses.
• Creating interactive reports: Implementing features like charts and conditional formatting for more impactful data visualization.

  • I'm at Northeastern University and lead a small buy lean group focused on PhD education and Postdoctoral training. One thing we do is increase our partnerships with Industry.
• How long have you been using Smartsheet?
  • About 3.5 years — and it has been life changing!
• How are you using Smartsheet today or planning to in the future?
  • Smartsheet enables us to set up structured and consistent workflows with security. We use this to bootstrap and flush out processes when we don't have access to resources to incorporate these workflows into other enterprise systems. We have many disconnected systems and Smartsheet has become a useful tool bridging across them — and we haven't used Bridge yet!
• What else would you like to learn from your peers in the education industry?
  • Would love to learn about best practices and ways that folks have found Smartsheet to improve day to day operations.
