DASHBOARD - Shortcut Widget - changed?

I set up a Dashboard many months ago and it allowed me to put Links to WORKSPACES and FOLDERS from the SS Directory. See the Screenshot. I went to update the DB / add another FOLDER, and it would not let me.

I had a consultation with a smartsheet basics person on the phone. They said not allowing WORKSPACES and FOLDERS is expected behavior at present time.

When did this change? Why?
Can Smartsheet revert back to allowing these as Links in the SHORTCUT widget?

Red hash marks are the WORKSPACES and FOLDERS I had previously put on the Dashboard, and the Links are still active and work properly.

@Genevieve P. Thanks for confirming! I haven't tested the load times, but my "gripe" would be how it looks. Using the direct URL means you don't get the folder and workspace icons. I know that's more a cosmetic complaint than functionality, but I do leverage that in some client solutions.

I remember being able to do this too, but even the UI is different now. @Genevieve P. Are you able to shed any light on this one?

I tested this as well and see what you see - there was an update to the sheet-picker for the Shortcut Widget in order optimize the load time. I don't believe it was intended that the ability for Folders and Workspaces to be linked was then removed, but I'll check in with our Support teams regarding this and update you here.

In the meantime, you should be able to use the direct URL as a "website" link instead of using the "Smartsheet Item" link in a Metric Widget to link out to those Folders and Workspaces.

@Genevieve P. thanks for your feedback and follow up. I am aware of how to use a direct URL as a website link. That begs 2 things: Linking to a Smartsheet item via the external link takes too long to load vs. going right to a Smartsheet item. That's the feedback I got from my team when I originally set other Smartsheet things to link externally.

I'll eagerly wait your feedback to see if they'll allow the Folder and Workspace linking again.
