Can multiple users use the same sheet without causing changes for other users?

Sorry if my question is unclear. Here's what I'm getting at: I have an onboarding training checklist I made for all new hires. Each new hire has their own individual dashboard. Basically, I want to add the general onboarding checklist (which is a sheet) to each employee's dashboard. However, I want to know if there is a way to use the same sheet for every dashboard without having it reflect changes from other users.

@kk119 - A couple questions to better understand the individual dashboard and the general checklist - You say each new hire has a unique dashboard reflecting where they are in their onboarding journey - correct? And the dashboard "parts" or widgets include a "general onboarding checklist" which is visbile on all dashboards - correct? Your question is around updating the general checklist for the individual, but having the updates unique to the new hire (what they have completed) but not changing the original general checklist which is the starting point for all - am I close to understanding what you are trying to accomplish?

Once I understand better I will see if I can assist - I'm sure there are others in the community that may have answers as well.

Do you have the Dynamic View add-on? Without further context, I'm thinking that for the checklist you should have a spreadsheet with one column for every task/step, and a row for each staff member. Then make a Dynamic View of that sheet that only shows the rows the user is assigned to (with a Contact List column). You can use the same dynamic view link for everyone and each user will only see their own row.

  • Sheryl - That's exactly what I am trying to do. Again, apologies if my question was unclear. I'm still quite new to Smartsheet.

Courtney - Dynamic View is a great idea - thank you!
