Using Sheet Summary Fields as Filters

Has anyone ever tried to use Sheet Summary fields as filters on a Metric Sheet?
I just set up a sheet where I have the YEAR as a dropdown field in the Sheet Summary.
I wrote all my formulas to reference that field instead of a specific year, so I can easily flip between years in the sheet! I just wish I could use it like this in a Dashboard!
