Importing email addresses as Contacts

We have an Excel worksheet that contains email addresses and are using Data Shuttle into import them into a worksheet. The email addresses are going into a Contact column. In some of the cases the record will come in with the email address and other cases it converts to the person's name. Is there any way to force it to keep the email address? I ask because I am using their email address as a key, between two worksheets, to supplement other information.

hi @Paul Reeves, this may not be terribly elegant, but I usually end up having both an email column (text type) and a “Resource” column (contact type, filled via =[Email]@row), to avoid these kinds of issues. This would allow you to shuttle the emails from Excel to the text column without losing the function of the contact column.
Let me know if useful!
All my best,
Will
