My company is using a form to assign trailers to yard locations, but we need to restrict the dropdowns by facility(PA warehouse vs. TX warehouse) and type(dock door vs. parking spot). In the current state, the form would require users to select from hundreds of options. This leaves much room for error, as users could mistakenly assign a trailer to a parking spot at the wrong facility and cause confusion for both warehouses. How can we restrict assignment options without creating a new sheet for each facility?

Best method would likely be having a drop down selecting either PA or TX, and creating a column for both next to it.
If using forms, ask TX or PA and use "Logic" to only ask PA if PA is selected, and vice versa.If using sheets and filling those in only, I would conditional formatting. If "Location" is "PA', then apply (grey/black) to "PA-trailer" cell, or something like that.

I need to create two related dropdown lists, with the values displayed in List 2 dependent upon what was entered in List 1. For example, List 1 dropdown "A, B, C", List 2 dropdown "A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. When I choose "A" in List 1, only "A1, A2" can be chosen in List 2.

Appreciate the response and suggestion! Unfortunately the facilities are spread all across the country, and I only used TX & PA as examples. This would not be an adequate solution as it is not feasible at a large scale.

The ability to show/hide options in a drop down list based on the value in another field. For example,
Column 1/Form Field 1 Options: Category A, Category B
Column 2/Form Field 2 Options: Request 1, Request 2, Request 3, Request 4
Where Requests 1 & 2 are shown when Category A is selected and Requests 3 & 4 are shown when Category B is selected.

Thanks for the suggestion! However, we really need this ability in sheets and reports, not just on a form.

I we are able to do this through data shuttle. I have a dynamic drop down in a form for "pending" applicants that updates based on a much larger sheet that includes only those who are "pending" — data shuttle manages this. Or, did I miss something in the question?

It would be great if we could have conditional drop downs based on a specific criteria set or a specific set of predetermined data. This would be ideal for our organization for the different type of projects we deploy!

It would be great if this feature was added into regular Smartsheet plans, instead of being solved with add-ons.

This really needs to be implemented… I have a huge data set and need to narrow it by Main Topic > and then all the sub-topics would be available. With 14 topics and anywhere from 8 - 15 sub-topics, none of the suggestions for a workaround are reasonable because the time spent building it we may as well manually look at each list for what should be selected (which is what we are doing).
Google Sheets can do it. Excel can do it. C'mon Smartsheet it's stuff like this that keeps people from wanting to use/invest more in this product… requested over two years ago at this point it seems. :(

I also want to add that my original post was specific to form building. I see a lot of this discussion is about working within grid view.
