Hello Smartsheet fans! I have a group who is trying to use document builder to move data received in a PDF document into rows in smartsheet.
- We have a fillable PDF to gather information from client
- When we receive the filled out PDF want to move the data into smartsheet row
- I envision this working similar to a form however formatted to look like the PDF
Is this possible? Will welcome any and all ideas of how to bring this idea to life.

Hello @Michele R. ,
Document Builder is a one way transfer of data from a Smartsheet row into a fillable PDF, it's not able to do the reverse (take PDF data and put it into a row).
I'd recommend using a form to get the data you need from your client and then use document builder to get that data into a form.

Hope that helps!

Hi @Michele R. ,
For this case, there is the "Document-Text-Converter" to convert data automatically from files (.pdf/word etc.) into Smartsheet rows. It's really easy to use as documents can simply be uploaded using Smartsheet's standard resources, e.g. a form, and the scanning process starts automatically.
