Dynamic String URL with automatic submit
Hello all,
I'm an instructional designer that uses Smartsheet for intake, project management, time management, and just all kinds of things.
Recently I've used smartsheet to create leaderboards within eLearning lessons to show real time to the learners how they placed with points or time on interactions. However, they still manually have to "submit" information on a form.
Using variables in the elearning with their scores I'm able to create StringURL that populates their scores to "hidden" fields in the form and on the next slide of the lesson it launches a published view that automatically sorts all the learners for them to see where they scored.
I want to create the ability for it to launch the dynamic stringURL that also auto submits taking the "human" reliability to manually hit submit. I've tried with JavaScript and iframes but it just isn't working. Anyone been able to make a form auto submit?

Why use a form at all? Why not use an automation to add the new row to "form sheet" instead? Even if that means you're bringing over extra columns you would use a report to display the results so don't have to show those. Would that work?

Hi Adam,
How would I get the information from the elearning into smartsheets without the form? The information changes based on interactions within the elearning ( what handle they chose, the points they ear, sometimes its tracking time like a race). But I don't know of another way to get information from an outside source with no access to smartsheets? Definitely open other suggestions, but I've used automations a lot and I'm not connecting how I could use it in this case?

I would leverage the API or Bridge.

API can take any input and update SS accordingly. But it is a bit of an effort (at least the first time) to put together.
Bridge requires a premium license and that depends on your budget.
Zapier could also allow you to connect SS with other systems
