Workspace Panel Icon Disappears - how do you get it back?
I love the new workspace panel. The challenge is that once I access a different worksapce through browse, the panel icon disappears, and I can't figure out how to get it back without selecting a workspace in browse, then editing the URL to delete the text "/browse". Is there a way to access the panel from browse for other workspaces without editing the URL each time?

Hi @Pauline J,
The workspace icon disappears when you're browsing workspaces and sheets. When you open a sheet/report/dashboard within a workspace, then the icon appears so you can navigate within the workspace that you're already viewing a file within.
Hope that helps!

Hi @Ray Lindstrom ,
Thanks for responding — what I am experiencing is very inconsistent. I'm trying to figure out the logic behind what is happening. Sometimes the panel appears, sometimes it doesn't. I am opening all files by selecting the workspace or folder from the browse pane, and then opening the file from the center section.
Does it sound like something that should be escalated to support? Or am I just not understanding the process?
I just now opened this training sheet, and no panel.
Likewise, this sheet that stores training info (in same folder) doesn't open the panel.
But … this sheet does.
Same with reports …. A testing report opens, but no panel:

The panel doesn't always fly open on it's own, but it's still accessible by clicking the "open workspace panel" icon located here:

@Ray Lindstrom — 😉
That's the problem, the icon disappears and doesn't reappear. I just took these two screenshots:
After opening browse to navigate to a different workspace — the icon is gone.
The only way to get back to it, that I have found, is to navigate to the workspace, then edit the URL to take out the text "\browse" - Green image is the partial URL, when I edit out "browse" then I can see my workspace and the panel icon re-appears.
It sounds like I should open a ticket with support b/c it sounds like it should not be disappearing?

That's actually what I was trying to explain. It doesn't appear when you're browsing. It only appears when you have a file open that resides in a workspace (unless you edit the URL as you explained, then you can have the workspace panel icon without having a file open). If your URL has the word browse in it that means you're not in a file, but instead are browsing the folder structure. Open any file within a workspace, and that icon appears so that you can easily navigate to another file within the same workspace without having to go back to the main file browser.
As long as the browse icon (pictured below) is highlighted, the workspace panel icon will not be present.

Thank you for bearing with me. I do understand what you are explaining. In our experience the icon doesn't seem to always appear when we select a workspace — but I'll work with it longer, it's probably something I'm doing incorrectly! 😂

Pauline, one user on my team has had the same experience as you described. You are not alone after all! Did you find an answer to get the workspace panel icon to reappear consistently?

@SheriO — I wish I had a good answer; it just finally started working!
