Can Unlicensed Users Edit Reports

According to the [docs](https://help.smartsheet.com/learning-track/free-users#:~:text=Free%20users%20have%20the%20ability,own%20items%20without%20a%20license.) "Free users have the ability to view and/or edit the items they have been shared to".

I would assume items would include reports, but, as unlicensed user, I can only edit sheets, not reports?

    Hi @David AvGarcia!

As an unlicensed user, you can indeed edit reports, but it depends on the permissions granted to you and the type of edits you're trying to make.

If you’ve been given Editor permissions or higher, you should be able to edit unlocked rows and columns (assuming you also have editing permissions on the source sheets). For more information, check out this article on sharing permissions for sheets, reports, or workspaces. There are some limitations, so it's also worth reviewing how to work with source sheets in reports.

Additionally, certain actions—like modifying the Report Criteria (which dictates filters, sorts, etc.)—can only be done by the report owner or users with Admin permissions. For more details, you can check out this guide on Reports.

    In summary:

    • Editors can update cell content, but not modify the Report Criteria.
    • Admins can change Report Criteria (e.g., Sort, Filter).

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Isaac.

  • thank you Isaac! I´ve managed to get unlicensed report editors editing cell content. What I see is that from the report all users (owners, licensed, unlicensed…) can edit cells, but not adding new rows, I´m assuming this is expected behaviour.

  • Hi @David AvGarcia, could you share how you were able to allow unlicensed users edit the cell content? Also were you able to allow them to sort and filter through the report? Thanks!
