If name in this column, put contact in another cell but not the cell with the formula

I'm using the Jira Connector and having a heck of a time getting contacts to sync.

I've been through a laundry of ways so now I want to try this.

I'm able to bring in the Assignee Display name with no issue in a text column only.

Jira connector will fail if a column has a formula (so frustrating, let me tell you!), so I am going to try a third column for the formula. Pull the static name from column 1, put the SS contact into column 2.

Making the Display Name column a contact column will not work. You name it, I have likely tried it looked into it or verified it.

So, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can make this formula, I would appreciate. Also, if you have any wild ideas for me to try, I will try those too.

If anyone needs a list of things that I know don't work, let me know. 😉

Edit: Also, it does bring in a few people but not everyone. Some of those that come in do not have an active Jira account and do not have a SS account at all. Fun stuff.

You are not going to be able to populate [Column2] with a formula that resides in [Column3]. TO accomplish getting the contacts in there without using a formula, you will need to leverage the API, the premium add-on Bridge, or some other third party app that acts similarly.

@Paul Newcome Thanks. This has been so frustrating I can't tell you. I was under the understanding and from demos that this was going to be beautiful. I'm sure it will be but getting it there is not fun. I do have SS assistance but I feel it's been quicker for me to just keep trying things myself and marking them off their list of suggestions.

Thanks for your response. I do appreciate it.

    Crossing it off the list…
