Customized Edit row details window

We would like to use Smartsheet for our legal repository, but it is sometimes difficult to scroll through all of the fields in grid view. My suggestion is to create a layout view that users can customize with their fields and the ability to add tabs so fields can be organized into groups. I feel this would allow users to expand their usage of Smartsheet.

    Hi @Shannon Heward,

    Would creating row reports, or having the users create their own row reports work? If users create their own reports from the source sheet, they can determine which columns are included, and can also use the grouping feature within reports. 

    Does that help, or is that not what you’re looking for?

    This is an example of what I'm requesting [although I don't love this exact layout…it's just an example]. Sometimes we have a lot of fields and it is difficult to scroll in grid view and find what you're looking for. It would be really helpful to be able to build a visual layout of these fields with the ability to create different tabs so fields can be grouped into different categories. I hope that helps!

    Thanks for providing the screenshot - I see that you’re looking for a customizable view of the Edit window (when you click on the row menu and select Edit). I’ve edited the title of your request to reflect this.

    In Board View and the new Table view (which is currently live in the Early Adopter Program), the Product Team is working on a more customized view in a Details Panel.     Table View is very similar to Grid View and with so many fields it is challenging for some of our users. And, Board View seems to me like an enhanced Card view. But, you are looking at multiple records.

    We're looking for a layout we can customize to show 1 record on the screen at a time…Admin setting up could pull in fields [similar to setting up a form] and lay them out on the screen with the option for at least 2 columns. And, the Admin would have the ability to add customized tabs to include other fields for that same record. I have added more screen shots below as an example. There are many fields on different tabs. I think it would help to allow customization especially when sheets have a lot of fields.
