Timeline Groups

Am I missing something about Groups in the new Timeline view? I have a column in my sheet "Audit" that I'd like to use as the Grouping, but when I select Group, no fields are available. Is there some setting I need to use to allow something to be grouped? Or is this a bug?

Answered my own question, but leaving it here in case someone else has the same question. The column that you want to group by needs to be a Dropdown.
