Employee shift categorization on resource management

How do i update a resources profile to indicate they are on a day shift or night shift so that they are grouped together (nights versus days) when viewed on the resource management calendar?

I currently have employees numbered so they are listed in the order of days versus nights, but i currently have 2 employees swapping shifts so i'm afraid the number is going to interfere when i change it with what i already have scheduled.

To group employees by shift (day or night) in the resource management calendar I would add a custom field to their profiles for "Shift Type" (Day/Night). This way, you can filter or group by shift without relying on numerical ordering, which might get disrupted when changes occur. i temporarily was able to alter it by updating their role so they would move up or down without having to change anything else. But not sure why Smart Sheets does not offer a shift option. Such a simple thing to have and to be able to organize with but not included…
