Is it possible to schedule send an Excel attachment with collapsed groups?

I'm trying to send an Excel attachment once per month from a row report that includes collapsed groups, but when the recipient downloads the attachment, the groups aren't collapsed like they appear on the live report. The data needs to be subtotaled by cost center - which could change every month, so a summary report is out of the question - and the groups need to be collapsed so the recipient doesn't see all the individual rows that comprise each subtotal.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried pulling out what you need into a report then exporting the report to send each month?

That's exactly what I'm doing :) the problem is getting it to export with the collapsed groups I set up on the report. In other words, all the groups are expanded when you download the Excel attachment, but I need them collapsed.

Can you provide a sample screenshot? You can just pull in the parent rows into the report so that way it does not send the extra rows.

So without a screenshot of what you are referring to, the answer is that if you are creating a report that has groupings, and are looking to download it with those same groupings, but just the title row of those groupings, that is not possible.

@SSFeatures has a browser extension that allows you to print PDFs of reports with those grouping headers, but not excel as of yet. I hear he is always looking for suggestions and I think an excel export would be the coolest thing of reports with the groupings/etc. with the option to export collapsed with the formulas etc. that we put in.

Sorry for the delay, Michelle! Here's a screenshot as requested. The left side shows the original report from Smartsheet which is subtotaled by cost center. The right side shows how the Excel attachment from the same report was exported and sent automatically - clearly not subtotaled.

I need the Excel report to have the same collapsed subtotals whenever it's sent on a schedule, but it sounds like that's not possible, is that right?

@jordan.navarro23 You are correct - that is not possible as of now. So best practice might be to have a sheet that you can export once a month that is your metrics sheet with formulas that pull out the correct amounts. I would keep bugging @SSFeatures until he makes it possible to do from a report ;)
