Role-Based Access Controls

Hello all. My boss was wondering if there was any type of access control that was role-based. I just started my job, it has been about a month now. The criteria is for my boss and 3 others, which are at a higher level than she is) to be able to have VIEWER access to ALL sheets.

Now unlike my previous role, access is not granted at the Workspace level, here it is done at the WORKSHEET level. Now for this scenario, I would think the answer to this quandary is to grant Workspace Access as Viewers. Am I correct?

And thanks in advance!

    @SherryFox,

    if they all need the same permission to all the assets I do not thin there is another option than just to add them at the level of workspace as viewers.

    by creating a group you will just save some time when you add them all to another workspace or sheet.

    hope this helps

    hi @SherryFox

    Do you mean roles as for example: Specialist, Manger, Director?

    I do not thin it matters what hierarchy role you have in a company as in Smartsheet either you have access to Workspace / Sheet / Report / Dashboard or you do not. If you give someone access as viewer to entire Workspace all the assets will inherit those permissions. If for Example Director needs to have access to more assets than Manager then you give the director the viewing access on the workspace level and to manager only to selected assets. etc.

    Hope it helps.

    @kowal ,

    There are 4 people (of different titles, but that does not matter), all of whom need access to ALL Smartsheet projects at the Viewer level. I also thought of creating a special group for them, and adding them at Viewer access to the Workspace. But I wanted to make sure that was correct.
