Timeline view - ordering and grouping

Is it possible to order the timeline view without having to create a grouping? by adding grouping for any project with more than 4 or 5 milestones this creates a very extensive view that is not condensed enough to view the overall program at once.

Swimlanes (Show/Hide)

Also is it possible for the timeline to only reflect the secondary grouping/swimlanes that are applicable and have been populated in the GANTT view? if the swimlane used for secondary grouping is not applicable to a given project I do not want to see it on the timeline view, else the user sees multiple blank swimlanes. See below example. Swimlanes 4 and 5 are not applicable for this given project, but they are for other projects on the list. is there a way to hide these from the timeline view??

Ordering - Unfortunately not without grouping.

Swimlanes - I believe if you create a filter that removes these items from the grid view before you switch to Timeline view, that they will be removed.
