Dashboard text fields

Hi,
I have a sheet and the level 1 parent is serial number then under it is a level 2 parent with specs
such as
year:
Make:
Model:
Can I make a dashboard that reports all the text that is after the year, make, model. Etc. So if I go to a dashboard I can see how many are a year 2020. The 2020 is entered by an employee. These are not from a drop down list they are entered in the same column (primary column) as the serial number.
Thanks!

Hi @Jett
Are you able to provide a screen shot of the info you would like to see on the dashboard?

I would like the 2020 Genie xyzzy 10,000 all of this data for each of the item Number/Listing ID in a dashboard.

Hi @Jett!
Thank you for the screen shot.
You could utilize a Metric widget. This would allow you to select the cells to display on the dashboard.
This is an example of what the Metric widget would look like on your dashboard:
You could also use the Report widget. If you apply the following filters (make sure "Or" on the far right is selected, not "And", or your report will be blank):
This is how it will appear on your dashboard:
Here are some resources that may be helpful:
Hope this helps!

Hi @mcullen
This will definitely help for some of the reporting, however the sheet will have over 300 items ( each item has its own set of specs and dropdown below) so I cannot have this many all at once. There are going to be multiple makes such as JLG, Skyjack, Genie, etc. I was looking for on the dashboard to have a count of the 300ish x number are genie x number are skyjack and so on.

Hello @Jett,
If you're looking for a count of the different makes, you could use formulas in the Summary Field (assuming there isn't an overwhelming number of makes). Then create a Summary Field Report to display the totals on your dashboard. Would something like this would work?
So sorry if I'm not on the right track.

Hi @mcullen!
You are on the right track I think this will be perfect! Is there a way to total all of the prices for all the machines?
-
Oh boy, this one’s a bit trickier. Since the column contains both text and numbers in a single cell, getting the system to recognize which is the price, and then sum the totals might be challenging. You could try adding a helper column to extract the price separately, then use a formula to calculate the total.
