Data Shuttle: Will workflow run if file is attached via form?
Hello!
Happy Friday! 😀
I am currently working on creating a Supply Request Tracker that will allow the requestor to upload their excel file with the list of needed supplies to a Smartsheet form connected to the tracker. The tracker will then use Data Shuttle to pull over the quantity, description, and item number of each supply item listed in the excel file. The item number will be used to pull in the quantity of each item we may have in inventory utilizing the VLOOKUP formula and our Inventory Tracker.
Now, I've tested the sheet multiple times. The VLOOKUP works great. The Smartsheet form captures the input information and attaches the excel file to the row like it's supposed to. The problem comes with the Data Shuttle feature. If I attached the file to the row/sheet manually, the data from the file flows right into the sheet but when the file is attached via the Smartsheet form, the Data Shuttle feature does nothing.
So, does the Data Shuttle workflow not run if the file is attached via the Smartsheet form or am I just doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Dorothy

You should definitely be able to do this, as I've built a couple solutions with this scenario too. The two things I can say that made it work for me are:
- Make sure in your configuration that it's using the latest uploaded file, not by file name. This could mean using a sheet JUST for uploading the new excel, which is how I like to do it.
- You need to have a grid field for the user to fill out as well as the attachment field. Just the attachment field won't trigger the DS workflow. I use something simple like "Today's Date" or "How are you feeling today?".

Hello @Jason Tarpinian ,
Thank you for your response!
- I have the workflow configured for the latest upload.
- My form has fields for the requestor to provide their name, email, number, and division along with the attachment.
I deleted all of my previous tests and submitted another test form this morning and it worked! I'm not sure why it wasn't before but I'll continue to test to make sure it wasn't a fluke.
Thank so much for your help! 😁
