Copy select data over to a new sheet?

Hi Smartsheet,

I'm looking to remove an automation Copy Row with another process and am looking for ideas, suggestions, help.

Currently I'm using the Copy Row automation to drive data into an approved vendor list. The upstream sheet (vendor creation) is flooding the next downstream sheet (approved vendor) with unnecessary excess columns and cells. I'd like to copy about 5 cells from the latest row in vendor creation to the approved vendor list. I don't need to copy all rows from vendor creation, as some vendors on the approved vendor list no longer fit the criteria and are no longer approved in status. I think I'd need some criteria like "copy these 5 cells from any rows in the past day over to the approved vendor list." Or perhaps an execute immediately after a new row is added trigger.

I'm not extremely well versed on Shuttle and Mesh, is this the answer?

Thanks!
Eric

    Hi,

I hope you're well and safe!

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.

To connect them row by row, you'd use an Autonumber Column in the Source sheet and add a so-called helper column to manually add the row id on as many rows as you think you need in the Destination sheet.

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic day!
