How to Automate Email to the Submitter?

I'm trying to set up an automation that will email the submitter once their request has been set to a status called "Approved". I made a Contact list column for the submitter to enter their own email, but when testing this automation, the submitter never got an email.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

A few of questions. Are you requesting the users email when they submit the form? (assuming this is the case from the first picture?…and because you have put the required* asterisk on then I'm assuming there is an email in your sheet?)

If you have the above is the user shared with your sheet as a viewer (at a minimum?) This is what would be required for the automation to send to your data submitter.

The goal is having third-party users submit the form, and after I "Approve" their request, an automated email will let them know that their request was approved. These users won't have access to the sheet unfortunately. Is that the only way I can have an automation send data to the submitter?

Apologies it has been a bit busy. I know the org I work for has locked this feature to only account users, however I found this in Smartsheet Community which might help ? I think it might depend on how your account is set up?
