Why does my sharing permissions report not match what my sheets say?

I have a sheet that is in a workspace. The workspace has an owner, an admin, and several viewers. When I run the activity report to show our sharing permissions, it is telling me that 4 of the people who are viewers in my workspace have Editor-cannot share permissions on the sheet itself. When I look at the sheet itself, the sharing permissions are solely the workspace permissions (viewer). How can I fix this? Because of this glitch, these viewers are about to be charged an annual user license in Smartsheet that they do not need. Help!

    Hi @Carlyn F,

That sounds like unexpected behaviour since you’ve stated that the sharing permissions for the sheet are showing only the workspace permissions.Β

Is it possible that there’s more than one sheet with the same name? If that’s not the issue, I’d recommendΒ submitting a Support ticketΒ to have the team investigate this thoroughly. If you could share the following details when you submit your ticket, that will help the case to proceed more quickly:

    • ID of the sheet in question (open the sheet and click File > Properties)
    • ID of the workspace in question (right-click the name of the workspace in the Browse menu and select Properties)
    • Screenshots of:
      • The share window for the workspace
      • The share window for the sheet
      • The relevant section of the Sheet Access Report

    Thanks,

    Georgie
